Córdoba is rich in History & Culture
Many people who come to Spain tour cities such as Seville and Granada but miss the shining star that is Córdoba. Let us show you our favourite Spanish city when you take your exclusive private tour with Spanish Detours.
Córdoba is a small city with a huge heart and quite often overlooked by many visitors to Andalucía. It's a personal favourite of ours and we would highly recommend that you add Córdoba into your itinerary because it's a city that has so much to offer in such a small area.
We'll park near to the Puente Romano (Roman Bridge), which we'll walk across and from there head to the Mesquita.
The Mesquita, believed to be the grandest Mosque ever constructed in the Moorish world is unlike any other building you'll ever see. It has a Cathedral built within it giving an insight into two totally different worlds within one building.
A visit to the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, a fortified palace is also well worth a visit. Built in 1328, as well as being used by the Inquisition, it was also used as a prison until the 1950's.
As with most palaces, the gardens are a lovely place to wander around.
There are vibrant plazas where you can watch the world go by while taking a break from exploring the maze of streets in the Juderia, the ancient Jewish quarter of the city, home to the 14th century synagogue.
